Earth Sciences
The Earth Sciences are those fields of study concerned with both solid and fluid Earth materials and processes. The Department of Earth Sciences at 麻豆精选 is committed to the integration of teaching, the advancement of knowledge, and public service, in an inclusive and accessible environment.
Students can earn a Bachelor of Arts in Earth Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Geology at 麻豆精选Stark. The basic difference between a B.A. and B.S. degree in Geology is that the B.S. degree requires more geology courses while the B.A. degree allows for extensive elective course opportunities.
EARTH SCIENCES AT KENT STATE STARK
Students in the Stark Geology club, GEODES, made a 20-minute video presentation about rocks for the 3rd-grade classes at Judith Resnick CLC of Akron Public Schools. The teachers showed the video and then the students did a live Question and Answer session over Zoom with the class. The 3rd graders loved the video and asked excellent questions. The teachers want this to be a yearly experience.
Students in the Earth Sciences class, How the Earth Works, took a field trip to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. ESCI 11040, How the Earth Works, is a Kent Core Basic Sciences class.
Emily Rider, Ryan Oatman and Mero Yant presented data from the Stark Campus teaching water well field a the Geological Society of America national meeting in Pittsburg.
