Stark Campus Security is responsible for the protection of life and property, maintaining the peace and ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for our campus community which includes students, faculty, staff and guests of the university.
JACKSON TOWNSHIP POLICE ON CAMPUS
Campus Security works closely with the Jackson Township Police Department and the JTPD officers patrol campus periodically. Officers patrol parking lots and the campus grounds.
SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS
Campus Security uses surveillance cameras in parking lots and select areas of buildings.
KENT STATE UNIVERSITY POLICE SERVICES
Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ Police Services is empowered by the State of Ohio to enforce state laws and is directed by the Board of Trustees to enforce certain rules and regulations of the university. Although Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ Police Services has police authority on all campuses, the local police department or sheriff’s office maintains primary responsibility at the regional campuses.

ANNUAL SECURITY REPORT
The Disclosure of Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act is a federal law enacted in 1990 requiring universities and colleges that receive federal funds to publish certain information regarding crimes that occur on or near campus.

DAILY CRIME LOG
The daily crime log is the record of criminal incidents or alleged criminal incidents that have been reported to Campus Security. Crimes are entered into the log within two days of being reported to campus security. The log is in a paper hard copy and available upon request at the office of the Public Safety Manager in 117A Main Hall.

Online reporting of events that may include threats of physical harm; harassment; strange, suspicious or disruptive behavior on campus; or information regarding weapons or drugs on campus.

OFFICE OF STUDENT CONDUCT
The Office of Student Conduct is responsible for the adjudication of cases involving students who are accused of violating campus rules, regulations or policies; federal or state laws; and/or municipality ordinances. The Office of Student Conduct can help coordinate and assist regional campuses with the student conduct hearing process.

FLASH ALERTS
Flash ALERTS is Kent State’s official emergency text notification system to notify subscribers of critical information no matter what time it is or where they are in the world. Flash ALERTS expands the university's ability to send critical news and information to the university community during campus emergencies.
EARLY ALERT SYSTEM
The Early Alert System is a reporting system that allows faculty to identify students who are presenting patterns that may lead to academic difficulty. It helps partner them with other campus resources and professionals in order to provide proactive assistance to students.
CARE TEAM
Â鶹¾«Ñ¡â€™s Care Teams are cross-divisional crisis management committees that collaboratively assess and coordinate a response to students identified as reasonably posing a potential threat to self, others or the university community.

STEP UP SPEAK OUT
This program is a collaborative effort by Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ Counseling and Psychological Services, DeWeese Health Center, the Office of the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, and Â鶹¾«Ñ¡Police Services. The initiative aims to support individuals in need by educating university community members on protocols and resources designed to assist in disruptive situations or with distressed individuals.

OFFICE OF GENDER EQUITY & TITLE IX
Title IX of the federal Education Amendments of 1972 prohibits discrimination on the basis of a person's gender in educational programs or activities operated by recipients of federal funding, such as Kent State. While it is often thought of as a law that applies only to athletic programs, Title IX is much broader and protects all students, employees and visitors to campus from gender discrimination.

Prevention of injuries and illnesses to Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ personnel, students and visitors are the primary concerns of the Environmental Health and Safety Office. The identification, evaluation and elimination of hazards provide the best methods of reducing incidents that may cause injuries and/or illnesses.
