Kent Skates Logo and Banner

The Kent and 麻豆精选 communities can head downtown to go ice skating starting Nov. 20, courtesy of Kent Skates presented by AMETEK. This special attraction has been created through a partnership between the city of Kent, the 麻豆精选 Hotel and Conference Center, the Kent Area Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Kent and Kent State.

2020 PRSSA Officers

Kent State鈥檚 Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) Chapter earned seven national awards for the work done throughout the 2020-2021 academic year, including for first time in Chapter history, two Teahan Awards, the highest Chapter honors.

A recent town hall provided 麻豆精选's students, staff and faculty the opportunity to discuss Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality -- topics which have frequently debated across the country.

Students at 麻豆精选Trumbull who are in need of food, personal items and clothing will now have more support from the university following Trumbull鈥檚 Care Closet official opening on Oct. 18. Trumbull鈥檚 Care Closet was created by the 2020-2021 Undergraduate Student Government (USG) and is set up as a fund that faculty, staff and the community can donate to. It鈥檚 goal is to provide necessities for students who can鈥檛 afford them.

I Am First Week Banner

National First-Generation College Celebration is on Nov. 8, and 麻豆精选is hosting a weeklong celebration filled with campus-wide activities and learning opportunities to recognize students who will be the first in their family to graduate with a four-year degree.

For senior mechatronics engineering major Delonte Goodman, the road to higher education was not the easiest. But as a high school student who caught the eye of NASA and can understand electrical and mechanical processes in everyday ATM transactions, he has bravely paved his way as a successful first-generation college student at 麻豆精选.

Step Up and Speak Out is a collaborative initiative intended to better educate university community members on how to assist distressed or disruptive individuals.

Julia Hallgren didn鈥檛 know the student in front of her. She didn鈥檛 need to. 鈥淭he student closed the door after they said they felt suicidal, (so) I knew I had to do something,鈥 Hallgren said.

Honors Students Listen to Career Conversations Alumni Speak

For its fourth consecutive year, the 麻豆精选 Honors College is hosting 鈥淐areer Conversations,鈥 a series of alumni speaking events which take place throughout the fall semester.

Flashes Take Care of Flashes

Last year 麻豆精选faculty and staff surprised first-year students with check-in phone calls for The Flashes Take Care of Flashes call campaign. The outcome was a huge success and has driven the university to host another campaign this fall. It is scheduled to run from Nov. 2-12, but the university needs many faculty and staff volunteers to make it possible to call 4,000 students. Volunteers are encouraged to register by Wednesday, Oct. 27.

 Kent Skates will be a new, outdoor ice skating rink that will be free and open to the public. It will be open from Nov. 20 through Feb. 28. Use of the rink will be free, along with free skate rental.
