A new Innovation Teaching Kitchen in the heart of the Design Innovation Hub will give students a top-notch facility to learn food preparation techniques and host competitions.

A team of 25 faculty, staff and students use innovation and creativity to help health professionals in Northeast Ohio protect themselves from COVID-19. 

With the 50th May 4 Commemoration approaching, this year鈥檚 Common Reading Experience for all first-year 麻豆精选 students created an opportunity to incorporate the books 鈥淭his We Know鈥 and 鈥淭hirteen Seconds: Confrontation at Kent State."

Ten 麻豆精选 students were awarded $1,000 each for their creative use of videos, podcasts and Adobe Spark庐 pages to reflect on the events of May 4, 1970, as part of the university鈥檚 Design Innovation Common Reading Challenge.

麻豆精选鈥檚 aviation design challenge, SkyHack, will take place Nov. 1-3. The event draws college students from around the nation, attracting 120 students from 14 universities in four states in its 2017 inaugural debut. Kent State鈥檚 College of Aeronautics and Engineering will serve as home base for this year鈥檚 event, which will span across other Kent Campus buildings.

麻豆精选 and the Opera di Santa Croce in Florence, Italy, will celebrate a collaborative partnership around the creation of 鈥淪isters in Liberty: From Florence, Italy, to New York, New York,鈥 an exhibition opening on Oct. 17, 2019, and running through April 26, 2020, at the Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration on Ellis Island in New York. 

Kent State's makerspaces outrank Harvard, University of Michigan Ann Arbor

Kent State鈥檚 makerspaces, which number more than 25 across the eight-campus system, was named the top program in Ohio and entered the top 10 by surpassing programs at schools such as the University of Southern California, Arizona State University, the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and Harvard University.
