Parade

March with the College of Public Health and the Public Health Student Alliance in the 2024 Homecoming Parade! The parade beings at 10:30 AM.  Please be at the float location at 9:30 AM, exact location TBD next to Midway Drive. Students, .

Health Screening and Education Event

Join the College of Public Health and the Mobile Flashes team for the first 麻豆精选Homecoming Health Screening and Education event! Starting 9 a.m. and until Noon, next to the Rock on Front Campus (look for the green tents), 麻豆精选CPH and College of Nursing, Kent City Health Department, Portage County Health District, and University Hospital Portage Medical Center will host educational games, screenings and fun for the whole family. Stop by for blood pressure, BMI and glucose screenings, in addition to a Boo Boo Bear Clinic, coloring activities, safe community resources, Project Dawn and more.  

Alumni, let us know you're coming! Stop by the CPH tent before (during or after) the parade to connect with us and pick up some CPH swag, including a CPH Alumni t-shirt! .

Fall 2024 IPE Session

The 麻豆精选College of Public Health is offering its Fall semester 2024 Interprofessional Education (IPE) training for graduate students in public health and other disciplines in two sessions' Attendance at both sessions is required.  This training will be offered virtually in Teams.  In-person attendance in Moulton Hall on the Kent campus may be available if there is enough interest.

In the first session on November 6th, students will have the opportunity to interact with a panel of professionals addressing the topic of Advancing Public Health Initiatives for Older Adults: Innovations in Healthy Aging. In the second session on November 7th, students will participate in facilitated small group discussion in which they will have the opportunity to develop their competency in interprofessional practice.

There is no charge for attendance, but pre-registration is required.

Careers in drug rehabilitation through the legal system

Judge David Matia started Cuyahoga County's first felony drug court in 2009 and since then nearly 2000 drug court participants have had their lives positively affected.  He serves on many drug-related task forces including Governor DeWine's Recovery Ohio Advisory Council and the Cuyahoga County Board of Health Opioid Task Force.  Judge Matia has been awarded Ohio's "Jurist of the Year" and was featured in Cleveland Magazine for his efforts in fighting the heroin/opioid epidemic.
