Pay changes per the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)

In April, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) issued a final rule to alter the overtime pay regulations under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The rule increased the minimum salary threshold to $43,888 on July 1, 2024, and then to $58,656 on January 1, 2025. The rule also implements automatic updates to the threshold that will occur every three years.

In compliance with the final rule, 麻豆精选 will implement updates to assignments for employees earning less than $58,656 and who are currently exempt from overtime. 麻豆精选will use an effective date of January 1, 2025, to be in compliance.

Those employees who are currently exempt from overtime and earning less than $58,656, will have the following changes:

  • Hours worked and leave time (sick and vacation) will be tracked in the university's timekeeping system.
  • Will become eligible for overtime (either in the form of overtime pay or compensatory time off) of 1.5 times the hourly rate for all hours over 40 hours in a workweek.
  • The payroll schedule will switch from semi-monthly to bi-weekly.

Employees affected by this change will continue receiving the same benefits and annualized sick and vacation leave.

Important Note: Because payroll schedules will change from semi-monthly to bi-weekly, employees are encouraged to consider how the change might impact them. 2024 payroll schedules can be viewed in Flashline, located in the Employee Dashboard under 'Top Employee Resources'. 2025 payroll calendars will become available in January 2025.
