At the Glauser School of Music there are eight main areas of study: composition and theory, conducting, ethnomusicology and world music, general music studies, jazz, music education, music technology and music performance. Within these areas of study, students have the opportunity to specialize in concentrations tailored for their unique interests and career path.
The guided walking tour of the music wing of the Center for the Performing Arts will offer prospective students and their families an opportunity to see the our classrooms, practice rooms, small rehearsal spaces and Performing Arts Library as well as our creative spaces to collaborate, work and study. Students that have registered should meet in Roe Green Lobby in the Center for the Performing Arts (1325 Theatre Drive) a few minutes early. Tours take place from 4 - 5 p.m.
Our on-campus Discover Music Visit Days are free and open to all current high school and transfer students.

Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ Bands and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics invite you to Flasher Brass High School Band Day 2025! High School Band Day is a wonderful opportunity to visit the beautiful campus of Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ and collaborate with other students from band programs in our area. This year, the event will be held on Saturday, February 1 at the Kent State/Akron Basketball game. We are pleased to offer a free meal (pizza/water) and admission to the game for all participants. You will have the opportunity to rehearse and perform with Flasher Brass, Â鶹¾«Ñ¡â€™s Basketball Pep Band.
9:45 a.m. – Check-in (Ludwig Recital Hall Lobby, Center for the Performing Arts)
10 - 11 a.m. – Rehearsal
11 a.m. - 12 p.m. – Lunch (provided)
12:30 p.m. – Pre-game performance (MAC Center)
1 p.m. – Basketball game begins

Registration will close on Friday, January 24. An email confirmation and further instructions, including music, itinerary, and securing discounted tickets for friends and family, will be sent no later than Wednesday, January 29.

Explore Your Musical Future at our Orchestra & String Day! High school string students, join us for a day of music and discovery at Â鶹¾«Ñ¡! This exciting event features master classes, sectionals with our renowned faculty and graduate assistants, and a unique side-by-side orchestra experience with the Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ Orchestra. Open to all regional students, including youth orchestra members, this immersive day showcases Kent State’s vibrant musical community and state-of-the-art facilities.
