THEATRE SCHOLARSHIPs

Students in Trumbull & Neighboring Counties (Ashtabula, Geauga, Portage, Mahoning, & Mercer PA) are eligible to apply. Interested high school juniors and seniors should upload application materials described below to the submission form. Application deadline will be February 1, 2023. Ultimate decision on winners of each category/scholarship recipients will be determined by Kent Trumbull Theatre scholarship committee.

Acting Path
Student will submit a video audition of two (2) contrasting monologues (one contemporary, one classical).  Each video should begin with a slate where the auditioner states their name, their high school, and the names of the pieces they will be doing. Videos should be no longer than 4 minutes 30 seconds.  Auditions longer than this will not be considered.

Playwriting Path
Student will submit a 10-15 page play script that is written in standard manuscript format. The play should have no more than five (5) characters.  A guide to standard manuscript format is provided later in this document.  Scripts that do not meet these criteria will not be considered.  Submissions to the Young Playwrights Festival count.

Technical Theatre Path
Student will submit a technical portfolio of 10-15 slides or pages detailing their technical work.  The student should begin with a cover sheet specifying their name, high school, and the theme of their portfolio.  Portfolios that do not meet these criteria will not be considered.

Scholarships will be offered to the top two winners of each category in the amount of $2000 each resulting in six total offers per year. The scholarship committee may adjust the offers per category based on the yearly applicant pool and quality of submissions, not to exceed six total offers.
