Program excerpt from co-directors, Ambre Emory-Maier and Barbara Allegra Verlezza
The title of the dance concert, “One World,” has recently taken on a very different meaning for us in this unfamiliar, precarious time in which we find ourselves with so much world turmoil and unrest. In trying times, the arts are often a place of respite and comfort, a place that reminds us of the beauty of community and collaboration. We believe that the arts illuminate what it means to be human beings and provide ways for us to excavate and discover commonalities within ourselves, our cultures, and each other. We offer gratitude for the fact that dance brings us together, as one group, “One World,” united by our humanity.
