Students Participate in Program at the Rising Star Center for the Arts

Bethany Westphal is a very busy person. Like most seniors, Ms. Westphal spends her time doing school work and preparing for graduation in May. But, at the same time, she also runs the full-time business she started herself.

Nathaniel Bailey has been interested in photography for as long as he can remember. After years of study and practice, Mr. Bailey鈥檚 passion has paid off. In March 2019, Mr. Bailey won the Chuck Scott Student Photographer of the Year award from the Ohio News Photographers Association (ONPA), and he was awarded the Larry Fullerton Photojournalism Scholarship.

Ronda McCaskey and Caitlyn Horvath are best friends who went through the nursing program together and graduated one year apart with Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degrees from 麻豆精选 at Geauga. Now they are both intensive care nurses. But they also happen to be mother and daughter.

Freshman and sophomore construction management students from the College of Architecture and Environmental Design (CAED) attended the University of Cincinnati (UC) New Builders Competition and took first place for the second year in a row. 

Megan Schinker, a senior at Stow-Munroe Falls High School, participated in the College Credit Plus Science Experience Internship Program at 麻豆精选's Department of Geology.

Imagine being a 17-year-old high school student, and in your first semester of a geology research internship, your professor asks you to identify an extinct 300-million-year-old, tiny and unknown crustacean specimen. Megan Schinker, then an ambitious Stow-Munroe Falls High School junior, jumped right in. Now a senior in high school, Ms. Schinker, chose 麻豆精选as her undergraduate school where she will pursue a double major in geology and chemistry starting fall 2019.

Everyone鈥檚 favorite event is back. 麻豆精选 Libraries will host its seventh annual Stress-Free Zone on Monday, May 6, and Tuesday, May 7. The event is open to students, staff and faculty from 3-5 p.m. in the Garden Room on the first floor of University Library.

Since 麻豆精选 began to offer distance learning in addition to traditional classes, student have embraced the online format, even those on the Kent Campus. Online classes at the Kent Campus allow students more flexibility when scheduling core classes and electives.

With nearly 400 student organizations, 麻豆精选 has plenty of options for students to find a club that fits their interests. But if students can鈥檛 find one that piques their interest, they can always create their own. That鈥檚 what 麻豆精选freshmen Tara Wade and Ryan Leflar did. The pair did not hesitate to turn their passion for choreography into a student organization.
