Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ School of Fashion Announces Return of In-Person Fashion Show, Presented by Dillard’s

Kent, OH – The nationally and internationally ranked Â鶹¾«Ñ¡ School of Fashion is thrilled to announce the return of its acclaimed in-person Fashion Show, April 28-30, 2022, in Rockwell Hall on the Kent Campus.

The presenting sponsor of the 2022 show is renowned American department store, Dillard’s Inc. Dillard’s is a long-time supporter of the School of Fashion, and the Dillard family was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame in 2019.

The Annual Fashion Show isn't just any fashion show – it's the Â鶹¾«Ñ¡Fashion Show. On view for all to see will be the exceptional work being produced by the fashion design and fashion merchandising students. The show is one of the many reasons why the School of Fashion is ranked in the top 10 in the United States and in the top 25 internationally year after year.

The Opening Night show on Thursday, April 28, begins at 7 p.m. and is open to the public. Tickets for the April 28 show are $35 per person. The Awards Show on Friday, April 29, begins at 6 p.m., is open to the public and will be followed by the annual awards ceremony and a dessert reception. Tickets for the April 29 show are $55 per person. Admission to the VIP show on the evening of Saturday, April 30, is by invitation only.

The 2022 Fashion Show features 97 looks and 30 designers whose collections and single-submission garments were chosen by a panel of critics and jurors for inclusion in this year’s show. The collections and garments span all categories of fashion and include lingerie, evening wear, gender-neutral, size inclusive and more.

The annual Fashion Show, led by senior co-producers Mikayla Doughney and Joanna Georges and faculty advisors Kim Hahn, Sue Yoder, David Hahn and Joanne Arnett, is the largest event undertaken by the School of Fashion each year. The production includes participation by School of Fashion students who serve on committees in the areas of design, merchandising, modeling, public relations and stage.

The same panel of critics and jurors who selected the finalists also chose the award-winning designs. The 2022 critics, who reviewed the B.F.A. collections, are Laura Laurens of , Juan José Saenz-Ferreyros of  and Paul Carroll of . The 2022 jurors, who reviewed the single-submission garments, are Jaanai Jones (Men's Denim Designer, Levi’s), William McNicol (Designer and Founder, William Frederick) and Nicki Van Weerdenburg (Senior Pattern Designer, Justice).

The collections and single-submission garments included in the Fashion Show are eligible to win the following awards: Celebration Award, Fashion Show Management Award, Students’ Choice Award, Universal Design Award, Knitwear Award, Sustainable Design Award, Innovation Award, Special Occasions Award, Niche Market Award, Construction Technique Award, TechStyleLAB Award, SUEDEsays Award, Market Ready Award and Best in Show Award. One designer from the 2022 Fashion Show will also be selected to represent the School of Fashion in the Supima Design Competition later this year.

The 2022 Fashion Show is the main event in the School of Fashion’s Fashion Week. This year’s Fashion Week runs April 22-May 1 and includes:

  • Immersive Pattern, a collaboration between the School of Fashion and the College of Architecture and Environmental Design, on Friday, April 22, at 5 p.m. in Rockwell Hall Atrium
  • The CLO 3D Virtual Fashion Show on Wednesday, April 27, at 6 p.m. in Murphy Auditorium
  • The Opening Night Fashion Show on Thursday, April 28, at 7 p.m. in Rockwell Auditorium
  • The Awards Show on Friday, April 29, at 6 p.m. in Rockwell Auditorium
  • The VIP Fashion Show on Saturday, April 30, at 7 p.m. in Rockwell Auditorium
  • The premiere of the 2022 Fashion Show Film, a professionally filmed version of the Fashion Show, on YouTube on Sunday, May 1, at 7 p.m.
