麻豆精选鈥檚 Student Recreation and Wellness Center's annual facility shutdown is scheduled for Saturday, May 12, through Sunday, May 20. During this time, the Student Recreation and Wellness Center will be closed to all patrons.
The shutdown is the Department of Recreational Services' opportunity to deep clean, paint and repair equipment and facilities. We appreciate your patience during the annual shutdown, which will include the resurfacing of the sports arena, as well as the first phase of the Student Recreation and Wellness Center Refresh in the administrative offices and Pro Shop.
The Student Recreation and Wellness Center will reopen on Monday, May 21 at 5:30 a.m. and will begin following summer hours. The center will be open Monday through Friday, 5:30 a.m.-8 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays, 7 a.m.-5 p.m. You can view all the details about summer hours on the website.
Members with locker rentals are asked to remove their belongings by Friday, May 11, before lockers are cleaned out and repainted. Additional reminder emails will be sent to all patrons with locker rentals at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center.
Basketball Court Resurfacing and Student Recreation and Wellness Center Closure
The sports arena resurfacing project will unfortunately keep the basketball courts offline from May 21 through June 1. To complete the final phase of the project, there will be two coats of sealer applied: the first after the close on Thursday, May 24, and again on Friday, May 25. The sealer produces a very strong odor and as a result, the Student Recreation and Wellness Center will be closed from Friday, May 25, through Sunday, May 27. The center is expected to reopen on Monday, May 28, at 8 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. in observance of Memorial Day hours. The center will transition back to regular summer hours on Tuesday, May 29. Hours of operation can be found on the website. Center staff are still investigating alternatives for basketball during this closure, but please note that there are four outdoor basketball courts that are available for use during that time.
In an effort to provide an option for members during this closure, center staff have collaborated with Residence Services to offer the Tri-Rec facility in the Tri-Towers rotunda as an alternate location for the three days the Student Recreation and Wellness Center is closed. This facility houses more than 75 pieces of weight and cardio equipment, as well as space for mat exercises.
All current members and guests, ages 16 and older, will be allowed access. The facility will operate during the same summer hours as the Student Recreation and Wellness Center: Friday, 5:30 a.m.-8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 7 a.m.-5 p.m. There are no locker rooms available, but daily use lockers will be available to safely store your items. Parking will be available in the lot south of Tri-Towers for all members.
