Join an eight-week, mindfulness-based, stress-reduction course that is free and available to all 麻豆精选 faculty, staff and students. This program provides a practical approach to stress reduction and management. Adapted from the work of John Kabat Zinn and the program of David Potter, this course is for anyone interested in understanding how mindfulness helps reduce stress and improves the quality of one鈥檚 life. During the eight weeks, participants will meet on Saturday afternoons, from 3-5 p.m. to practice mindfulness as a group, discuss readings about mindfulness, answer questions, prepare for the week ahead and socialize. The dates of the program are as follows:
- Jan. 21 and 28
- Feb. 4, 11, 18 and 25
- March 4 and 11
The Saturday sessions will be held on the Kent Campus at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center. The course is limited to 30 participants.
Volunteers also are needed to participate in research regarding the benefits of mindfulness on stress and cognition. If you choose to participate in the research, you will be asked to schedule two, 2-hour appointments before and after the eight-week program. During these appointments, you will complete questionnaires about your daily level of stress and your level of mindfulness. You also will complete computerized tasks that measure cognitive functioning. Participating in the research is voluntary, and you may withdraw at any time. Participation in the research is NOT required for participation in the mindfulness program.
