Biography
Kara Freihoefer, PhD, is the Director of Healthcare Research at Flad Architects, where she focuses on utilizing evidence-based design principles to inform and educate healthcare clients and colleagues on design decisions. Freihoefer has most recently published, "Making the Case for Practice-based Research and the Imperative Role of Design Practitioners" in Health Environments, Research and Design Journal (HERD). Her work has been awarded several Environmental Design Research Association Certificates of Research Excellence (CORE) and The Center for Health Design, Evidence-based Design Touchstone Awards since 2017. These awards recognize exemplary advancements and application of research in practice.
